Polydepsipeptide Block Stabilized Polyplexes For Efficient Transfection of Primary Human Cells

Degradable block copolymers have shown great potential to combine transfection capability with low toxicity of the transfection agent. Depsipeptide blocks exhibiting strong physical interactions were conjugated with PEI moieties to di and triblock copolymers. Upon nanoparticle formation and complexation with DNA, the resulting polyplexes (sizes typically 60-150 nm) showed remarkable stability compared to PEIonly or lipoplex, and facilitated efficient gene delivery. These nanocarriers form the basis for a delivery platform-technology especially for gene transfer to primary human cells. more

Fundamental research at the Institute of Biomaterial Science of the Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht is focused on the development of polymer-based biomaterials for medical applications. For our translational research on biomaterial-based medical devices for (pre-)clinical evaluation we are looking to fill the position of a Research Scientist/Postdoc (m/f/d) Engineer for Processing Technologies - Polymers by October 1st, 2019. This will be initially a temporary assignment for two years.
